Background
1) In1974,Flexitanks were first used to transport wine and cooking oil in bulk between Northern Europe and Australia and NewZealand.
2)During the Vietnam War, theU.S.Army used a large number of Flexitanks to transport combat supplies,which led to an increase in the use of Flexitanks during the 1980's-90's.
3)Since1990's, the use of flexitank in the transportation of bulk liquid goods began to be promoted due to the fact that compared with traditional irondrums and IBC plastic drums, flexitanks can save a lot of costs in terms of packaging and transportation costs.
4)By 2000's,due to the innovation in membrane material, the flexitank's bulkhead also changed from wood to steel material, the safety performance and operation convenience of theflexitank was improved,and the cost was reduced, the use of flexitanks has been developed by leaps and bounds.
Advantages of Flexitanks-Comparison to Tanks (ISO TANK)
(1)The maximum volume of each container of Flexitankis 24,000 liters,which is the same as that of tanks, but the sea freight cost is calculated by ordinary 20-foot international standard containers,which has obvious advantages compared with the high sea freight cost of tanks.
(2)The supply and distribution of tanks are subject to many conditions,often affecting the normal import and export programs of customers,coupled with higher inland ferry fees and loading and unloading fees,adding to the burden of customers. Flexitanks are not subject to supply, distribution, geographical and environmental influences, no inland ferry charges, small size, easy for transportation,convenient,efficientandsafefor loading and unloading.
